Basil Leaf Cut 2oz: The Universal Prosperity and Protection Herb
Basil, Ocimum basilicum, is a widely used ritual herb in folk magic, valued for protection, prosperity, love, and purification. It is also used in New Orleans hoodoo love and money work, and it appears in floor washes, charm bags, and candle dressings wherever financial flow and protection of home or business is the working’s aim.
The magical correspondences of basil include the element of fire, the planet Mars, and in some traditions Jupiter, reflecting its dual action as both a protective herb and a prosperity attractor. Basil appears in protection spells and love-drawing workings, and it is used to ward off the evil eye and protect the household. That range makes basil one of the most versatile herbs for any practitioner building a working herbal apothecary.
Using Basil in Ritual Practice
The 2oz packet provides enough basil for a season of spell work, a series of floor washes, or a supply of charm bag blends without needing to restock frequently. This basil comes from an SQF and Kosher certified supplier, so it works in the kitchen as well as in ritual and metaphysical use. Basil’s fresh, green scent is distinctive and holds well in dried form. Store in a sealed jar away from light and moisture to preserve potency for ongoing ritual use. The cut form dissolves easily in water for floor wash preparation and blends cleanly into charm bag mixes.
How to Use Basil Leaf Cut in Ritual
Three ritual uses for your cut basil leaf in protection, prosperity, and money-drawing work.
- Basil Floor Wash
Steep two tablespoons of cut basil in warm water, strain, and mop floors from back to front to move unwanted energy toward the door. Floor washes like this are used for protection and luck-laying in a living or business space.
- Prosperity Charm Bag
Add cut basil to a green charm bag with cinnamon chips and a lodestone for a prosperity charm. Basil is among the most common money-drawing herbs and is also used in New Orleans hoodoo money work. Its fresh scent keeps the bag from turning stale.
- Money Candle Dressing
Dress a green candle for money work by rolling it lightly in dried basil and cinnamon powder. Set it on a dish lined with more basil, state the petition clearly, and let the candle burn fully in a fireproof setting under direct supervision.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I carry basil in the 2oz size because it is the herb most practitioners reach for first when they need something for a floor wash or a fast prosperity working, and having a proper supply on hand matters. It is accessible and easy to use in floor washes and prosperity work. See my protection and evil eye herbs for the complementary herbs that strengthen basil’s protective function in combined sachets and floor washes.
