New Beginnings Ritual Candle for Release and Renewal
This New Beginnings ritual candle has been charged, anointed with oil, and inscribed with Theban script by a practicing witch. The Theban cipher is a 16th-century magical alphabet used across Wiccan and ceremonial traditions to encode intent directly into a working. Here, each carved letter locks in a dual intention: releasing what has kept you anchored in an unwanted past, and opening a clear pathway to whatever comes next. The candle arrives with that working already begun.
In folk magic and modern witchcraft, new beginnings workings are traditionally paired with liminal moments: the new moon, the spring equinox (Ostara), Imbolc (the Gaelic festival marking winter’s end), or personal milestones like the start of a new year or a birthday. The new moon is especially favored because it represents the start of a fresh lunar cycle and is the period when drawing-in magic carries the most force. Burning this candle during any of those windows amplifies the release-and-renewal intention.
Breaking Past Influence and Opening Fresh Paths
What distinguishes a new beginnings candle from a simple prosperity or attraction candle is its two-phase structure: first it helps break the hold of past negative influence, then it opens the practitioner to what follows. Practitioners sometimes describe this as clearing before drawing, and the sequence matters. You cannot effectively draw in something new if the old patterns are still occupying the space. This candle holds both phases in a single working tool.
Pair this candle with a white or silver candle for purity and lunar energy, or with a smudge bundle to physically cleanse the space before lighting. You can also place it alongside a piece of moonstone, labradorite, or green aventurine to reinforce the intention of opening to fresh paths. How to Use the New Beginnings Ritual Candle
Three steps for a complete new beginnings working using this pre-charged ritual candle during any fresh-start moment.
- Time the Working
New beginnings work lands best during a new moon, at the spring equinox, or the first day of any cycle that matters to you. This candle carries Theban inscription aligned with release and renewal, so timing provides a meaningful energetic amplifier.
- Write a Release Statement
Before lighting, write down on paper what you are leaving behind: old patterns, stalled circumstances, or any influence that has kept you anchored in the past. Place the paper beneath the candle holder as a symbol of what you are releasing.
- Burn and Visualize
Light the candle and visualize a doorway opening ahead of you. See yourself stepping through it into a cleaner, more open chapter. Let the candle burn at least one inch per session, and dispose of the paper when the candle has fully burned down.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I stock this candle because it handles one of the most requested working themes in my experience: the genuine desire to close a chapter and start fresh. Most new beginnings candles on the market are either plain and require the buyer to do all the preparation work, or they lean so heavily on aesthetic packaging that the actual ritual utility is an afterthought. This one arrives charged, anointed, and inscribed, which means the practitioner can focus on their intention rather than the craft of candle preparation.
