Fertility Oil Spiritual Meaning: Beyond Biology, Into Abundance
In both folk magic and religious traditions, fertility rarely means only reproductive biology. Across folk Catholicism, Wicca, and indigenous spiritual practices, fertility governs the full range of generative power: the soil producing a harvest, the artist producing new work, the household welcoming new life in any form. Ritual oils formulated for fertility have been used to anoint candles burned in novenas to Saint Gerard (the Catholic patron of expectant mothers), to dress altar tools at Imbolc when the Wiccan Wheel of the Year turns toward the first stirrings of spring, and to bless the threshold of a new home before the household moves in.
The Wiccan sabbat of Imbolc, celebrated in early February, marks the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox. Its older Celtic meaning, “in the belly,” refers to the barely-visible pregnancy of the land before the first snowdrops appear. Fertility workings timed to Imbolc or to the waxing moon align with this energetic archetype: things not yet visible but already in motion, already becoming. Espiritu Fertility oil fits naturally into this timing, used to anoint a candle for a creative or generative intention held over weeks or months.
Ritual Oil for New Beginnings: Practical Applications in Folk Magic
In folk magic practice, fertility oils overlap with “new beginnings” workings. They are used to anoint petition papers written with a specific intention, to dress a green candle for a new business or project, or to bless the soil before planting a garden that will serve as a working altar space. Unlike love-drawing or come-to-me formulas, which operate outward toward another person, fertility oil is directed inward and forward: toward what you are creating, not what you are attracting from outside yourself.

How to Use Espiritu Fertility Ritual Oil
Three steps for incorporating Espiritu Fertility Ritual Oil into a seasonal or intention-setting ritual practice.
- Set Timing and Intention
Begin at a waxing or full moon, or at Imbolc if timing your ritual to the Wiccan calendar. Shake the bottle gently, then open it and breathe in the scent with intention before anointing to set the energetic tone for the working.
- Anoint Candles or Your Body
Apply a few drops to a green or orange candle from base to wick, or anoint your lower abdomen, wrists, or sacral chakra point. For a new creative project, you can also anoint the first page of a journal or the cover of a notebook.
- Build an Altar for New Life or New Work
Place the anointed candle on your altar alongside symbols of what you are bringing into being: a seed, an egg, a written intention, or a photograph. Light the candle and hold the image of new life or new work taking root.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I stock this oil because “fertility” in ritual tradition is one of the most expansive categories in folk magic, and practitioners consistently need a dedicated formula for it rather than repurposing a generic love or abundance oil. I carry it for practitioners working with Imbolc timing, novena candle work, or creative and generative intentions. If you’re building a working oil practice, browse my Espiritu oils collection to find complementary formulas for abundance, new beginnings, and home blessing work.

Imbolc (early February) and the spring equinox are the most traditional times in Wiccan practice. Any waxing moon or new moon phase also aligns well with fertility and new beginnings magic, amplifying the oil's symbolic function in ritual.
Yes. Fertility oil can be used to anoint altar candles, the pages of a new journal, a business plan, or the pot of a new plant. The symbolic act of anointing marks the beginning of a cycle and sets intention for what you want to grow.
