Van Van Oil in Hoodoo Road-Opening Work
Van Van is a New Orleans-style hoodoo formula, and its name is traced to the French word for vervain (verveine). The formula is lemongrass-based (Cymbopogon citratus), a grass with a sharp, citrus-forward, cut-and-clear character.
What makes Van Van distinct from general luck formulas is its dual role: it clears and it draws. The lemongrass-forward scent profile is not incidental. In practical Hoodoo terms, that means you are not just attracting good fortune — you are sweeping away the stagnant or crossed conditions that were blocking it in the first place. Floor washes, candle dressings, mojo bag feeds, body anointing, and threshold work all appear among common uses for this oil. How to Work with Van Van Oil

- Dress a Candle for Luck or Road Opening
Add a few drops of Van Van oil to an unlit candle, working from wick to base. Hold your intention in mind – luck, clearing, or drawing opportunity. Set the dressed candle on your altar or workspace.
- Anoint Yourself Before Going Out
Anoint your wrists, the back of your neck, or the soles of your feet before leaving home or starting a new project. Let the lemongrass scent settle and ground your intent before you move.
- Floor Wash for Good Fortune
Add 7 to 10 drops to a bucket of warm water and wash your front doorstep or entry floor from the outside in. This floor wash invites good fortune through the threshold.

One practical note: the 2 dram size is small by design — it is meant for focused ritual use, not for saturating a whole room. A little goes a long way. For candle dressing, two or three drops per candle is plenty. For floor washes, add your drops to a full bucket of water.
