A Good Pouch Is Underrated
I’ve been selling pouches like this one for years and people consistently underestimate them. Velveteen is a cotton-polyester weave with a short, dense pile that mimics velvet. That pile matters: it’s soft enough that it won’t catch on gilded card edges or scratch polished stone, and it holds its shape better than plain fabric over time. It’s not velvet, and I won’t call it that. But it does the same work for a fraction of the cost, and it’s more practical to wash.
In color symbolism, blue is tied to peace and communication. In Western ritual practice it also corresponds to the water element and the throat chakra, Vishuddha, making it a natural fit for anything involving clarity of intention or psychic work. That’s not marketing copy. That’s why blue pouches move faster than most other colors in my shop. People have a use for them.
At 5 by 7 inches this pouch fits a standard tarot deck, a set of runes, a handful of tumbled stones, or the herb-and-stone bundle you’d pack into a charm bag. It’s a workable size. Not so small that you’re struggling to get your deck in, not so large that everything slides around. The drawstring pulls tight and stays closed. That’s about as much as you need from a bag.
How to Use This Bag
Three practical ways to put this blue velveteen pouch to work.
- Store a tarot deck
Slide your tarot deck into the bag with the cards face down. Pull the drawstring snug. The soft velveteen interior won't catch on card edges or scratch gilded borders.
- Build a charm bag
Layer your chosen herbs, a small lodestone, and any petition paper into the bag. Draw the cord closed and hold it in your hands for a moment to set your intention before knotting.
- Store tumbled crystals
Place your tumbled stones or small raw specimens inside. The velveteen lining cushions them and keeps chips from scratching each other during travel or storage.
Tarot Fellow Standard
I stock these bags because the consistency is there. Same dimensions run to run, seams that hold, drawstring that doesn’t fray after two weeks. That’s a low bar, but it’s the bar that a lot of cheap pouches fail at. I’ve pulled listings before when a batch came in short on quality. These haven’t given me a reason to do that.
A word on fit: most standard tarot decks (Rider-Waite sized, roughly 2.75 by 4.75 inches) fit with room to spare. Some larger-format oracle decks and oversized tarot decks will fit depending on the box size, but if your deck is significantly wider than 4.5 inches, check the dimensions before ordering. The bag doesn’t stretch. What you see is what you get.
If you’re putting together a full kit, browse our bags and pouches collection for other sizes and colors, or pair this with something from our crystals and stones collection to fill it.
