Motivation Soy Votive Candle for Focused Intention Work
Crystal Journey Candles’ Motivation votive is scented with sunflower and myrrh, two botanically-grounded ingredients that balance bright solar energy with a deep resinous anchor. Sunflower is associated with the sun’s drive toward light and growth, a natural correspondence for motivation and forward movement. Myrrh is one of the oldest ritual resins in recorded use, appearing in ancient Egyptian, Hebrew, and Greek traditions as an incense for consecration and focus. Together the pairing creates a scent profile that is uplifting without being sharp, grounding without being heavy.
The soy wax base gives this candle a slower, cooler burn than paraffin, which translates to the 18-to-20-hour burn time Crystal Journey states for the format. A votive at 2.5 inches tall and 2 inches across is designed for a holder, and that arrangement makes it practical for desk use, altar placement, or a shelf where you want a small ritual anchor. The compact format also means you can burn it across multiple short sessions without committing to an hours-long single burn.
Using Intention Candles for Modern Life Goals
The “Motivation” intention sits at the intersection of traditional candle magic and contemporary goal-setting practices. In traditional spellwork, orange and yellow candles are most commonly associated with drive, ambition, and overcoming inertia, and the solar-herbal scent profile here aligns with those color correspondences even without stating them. For practitioners who frame their work in terms of manifestation and affirmation rather than formal spellcraft, lighting this candle before a study session, a difficult work project, or a creative block functions as a ritual cue that signals focused attention is beginning.
The aromatherapy dimension of the sunflower-and-myrrh scent adds a practical layer. Scent is processed by the olfactory bulb, which connects directly to the limbic system, the area of the brain involved in mood, memory, and motivation. Using a consistent scent as part of a work or study ritual can build an associative cue over time: the smell of this candle becomes a signal that focus is the mode. This is how scent conditioning works in practice, separate from any spiritual framing.
How to Use the Motivation Soy Votive Candle
Three practical ways to use this soy votive candle for focus and drive.
- Set Your Intention Before Lighting
Before lighting, take thirty seconds to state what you are working toward. Write it down or say it aloud. Lighting after stating your intention marks the beginning of focused work and frames the session as deliberate rather than merely habitual.
- Burn in Short Focused Sessions
The 18-to-20-hour total burn time lets you use this votive across many short sessions. Light it at the start of a work block, extinguish when you break, and relight for the next. Repeated scent cues can build a conditioned focus response over time.
- Pair with a Written Goal or Affirmation
Keep a handwritten goal visible on your desk while the candle burns. The sunflower and myrrh scent becomes associated with that goal over time, reinforcing the intention at a sensory level each time you light the candle during the working period.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I stock Crystal Journey’s soy herbal votives because they’re an honest product at a practical scale. The soy wax burns cleaner and slower than paraffin. The intention labels are specific enough to be useful without veering into overclaimed territory. The Motivation votive earns its place because the scent profile, sunflower and myrrh, actually supports the stated intention through real botanical correspondence, not just label printing.
