How to Use the Cast Iron Cauldron Burner
Three methods for burning incense in your cast iron cauldron.
- Burn Resin on Charcoal
Place the cauldron on a heat-safe surface and fill the basin with a half-inch of sand or salt for insulation. Light a charcoal disc with tongs until it begins to glow and spark, then set it into the sand. Wait 60 to 90 seconds before adding resin.
- Add Loose Resin Properly
Add a small pinch of loose resin, about the size of a pea, directly onto the hot charcoal. Frankincense, myrrh, and copal all work well in this burner. Add small amounts at a time; too much resin at once produces dense smoke and may char quickly.
- Use Stick or Cone Incense
For stick incense, place a stick through one of the three holes in the rim so ash falls into the basin. For cones, set the cone directly in the basin. Allow the charcoal to cool fully before disposing. Wipe the interior with a dry cloth after use.
