Two Centuries of Spiritual Use in a Spray Bottle
Florida Water is a classic cologne that was first marketed in the early nineteenth century. Its citrus-forward, floral scent, built on bergamot, neroli, clove, and lavender, made it popular across cultures, and it was adopted independently by several traditions. It is used for spiritual cleansing in hoodoo, Santeria, Espiritismo, and Andean folk practice. Today it remains one of the most cross-cultural spiritual tools in the Americas.
This 8-ounce spray format is designed for the practitioner who reaches for Florida Water regularly and wants the convenience of direct misting without pouring. The spray nozzle makes it ideal for refreshing an altar between workings, misting a room to clear heavy energy, spritzing tarot cards or divination tools before a reading, and applying a light mist to the body and aura. The 8-ounce size is a practical mid-size option, enough for regular use and easier to store and handle than a larger bottle.
How Florida Water Fits Into Practice
Across traditions, Florida Water serves as a light cleansing medium that sits between plain water and heavier spiritual baths. It’s added to ritual baths for purification, sprinkled on ancestor altars as an offering, rubbed on the hands before divination to clear the reader’s energy, and used to wipe down candles and ritual tools. The spray format removes the step of decanting into a separate bottle, which makes it faster to deploy in the middle of an active practice session.
How to Use 8oz Florida Water Spray
Use this spray Florida Water across your practice with these three applications.
- Mist Your Altar and Sacred Space
Hold the bottle 12 to 18 inches from your altar and mist lightly before beginning a reading or ritual. Let the spray settle a moment before placing cards or offerings. This is especially useful between readings when clients or intentions shift.
- Add to a Spiritual Bath
Spray a portion into a running bath for a quick spiritual cleanse. Florida Water is traditionally used before ritual work to prepare the body and aura, and the spray format makes it easy to distribute evenly in bathwater without overpouring.
- Refresh Your Aura and Hands Before Divination
Spray a light mist across your hands and rub them together before shuffling cards or handling other divination tools. Many readers also mist lightly across the chest and crown to clear the mind before a reading session and establish clean focus.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I carry Florida Water because it’s a supply that shows up across many spiritual practices, from Espiritismo to contemporary altar work. The spray format makes daily use faster and cleaner than a pour bottle, and the 8-ounce size is my pick for regular practitioners who don’t want to commit to a large bottle but go through the smaller sizes quickly. Find it alongside my other altar and cleansing supplies.

The spray allows precise misting without overpouring or dripping. It's faster for altar work between readings, easier to apply to the body and face, and more practical on delicate items like tarot cards, crystals, or fresh flowers on an altar.
Yes. Florida Water is a traditional addition to spiritual baths, either sprayed directly into the running water or added as a small pour. It's used to cleanse the aura, lift heavy energy, and prepare the body for ritual work or divination.
The 8-ounce spray is a mid-size option, larger than small travel bottles but more manageable than a 12 or 16-ounce container. The spray nozzle is the key difference from pour bottles, making it purpose-built for altar misting and body application.

As much as I love Florida water, I’m not as much of a fan of the aerosol version. I thought I would give it a try, and I just was not a fan. The fragrance doesn’t linger as long as when I put it in a spray bottle or spritzer From the original container. Maybe a neat option for the bathroom though
The company that makes this released a couple of limited edition products, and this was one of them that is no longer available for reorder. I think you’re right!
Nice and strong scent. Don’t go wild with it, a little goes a long way
