The Pentacle on a Pocket-Sized Stone

The pentacle, a five-pointed star drawn within a circle, is one of the oldest surviving symbols in Western esoteric thought. Its five points represent the four classical elements, earth, air, fire, and water, with the fifth point standing for spirit or ether. Pythagoras and his followers treated the pentagram as a mathematical expression of harmony and the divine proportion. From there it traveled through Renaissance alchemy, Ceremonial Magic, and eventually landed at the center of modern Wiccan and Neopagan practice, where it’s become shorthand for elemental balance and protection.
