Rainbow Moonstone and the Language of Pendulums
Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of labradorite, technically distinct from true orthoclase moonstone, but sharing the characteristic adularescence: that blue-white shimmer that shifts and moves as the stone is tilted in light. The stone has long been associated with the moon, intuition, the Divine Feminine, and the amplification of psychic awareness. In crystal work, it is frequently recommended for practitioners who want to deepen their connection to lunar cycles or who are developing their intuitive capacities. Its pairing with a pendulum format is a natural fit, since pendulum work is one of the oldest forms of intuitive inquiry.
The 6-sided point shape is a practical choice for a pendulum. The hexagonal facets allow for precise, legible swings by giving the weighted tip a defined geometry rather than a rounded blob, which makes directional movement cleaner and easier to read. The faceted point also refracts light in the stone differently depending on the angle, which means the visual feedback during a reading includes the stone’s natural adularescence working in real time. The pendulum hangs on a chain and is sized for comfortable single-hand hold during extended dowsing sessions.
How to Use the Rainbow Moonstone Pendulum
How to calibrate and work with a Rainbow Moonstone pendulum for reliable intuitive dowsing and yes/no inquiry.
- Establish Your Yes and No Directions
Before asking real questions, hold the chain between thumb and index finger and ask the pendulum to show you yes. Note the direction it moves. Then ask it to show you no. These baseline directions are personal and should be confirmed each session.
- Ask Clear, Specific Questions
Pendulums respond best to binary questions with one definite answer. Frame questions in the present tense and avoid compound questions. 'Is it in my best interest to accept this offer?' produces cleaner results than layered or open-ended questions.
- Close the Session and Store the Pendulum
When the session is complete, set the pendulum aside intentionally rather than dropping it loosely into a bag. Many practitioners store pendulums individually in a small pouch to prevent chain tangles and protect the stone between sessions.
The Tarot Fellow Standard
I carry pendulums in several stone varieties, and Rainbow Moonstone is consistently among the most requested. The combination of adularescent visual quality and the stone’s association with intuition makes it a natural fit for pendulum work specifically, as opposed to carrying the stone in another form. The 6-sided point shape is a detail I look for: it produces cleaner, more legible swing patterns than rounded or irregular pendulum shapes, which matters once you’re doing serious session work rather than occasional casual inquiry. Frequently Asked Questions
Rainbow Moonstone is technically a variety of labradorite rather than orthoclase moonstone, though it shares the same adularescent shimmer. It displays a blue-white optical effect that shifts with the angle of light, associated with intuition.
The hexagonal faceted point gives the weighted tip a defined geometry that produces cleaner, more legible swing directions than a rounded bottom. The facets also refract light through the moonstone differently as the pendulum moves in a session.
There is no universal standard. At the beginning of each session, ask the pendulum to show you your personal yes direction, then your no direction. Most practitioners see a back-and-forth line or a circular motion. Confirm directions every session.
Yes. Pendulum dowsing is one of the most accessible entry points into divination because the mechanics are simple and the format is structured. The primary skill is holding the chain loosely so conscious direction does not override the movement.

I love it, it’s beautiful and was better than I expected 🙌🏼
the chain on my pendulum was broken close to the top bead (still works fine though). the quality of the moonstone is quite low and i’d argue that it’s actually just granite (see included photos). with all that being said, the price reflects what you’re getting. shipping was fast 🙂
Rainbow moonstone is a feldspar, more closely related to Labradorite than Moonstone (“Rainbow Moonstone” is an industry crystal name I don’t personally love), and usually contains areas of iridescence, just like labradorite. Let me know if the chain bothers you.
It’s beautiful! I love it!…. After cleansing it & only holding it in my hands for just a few minutes it was working like I had my energy in it for a week or more!
