Low John root goes by several names, Beth Root, Wake Robin, and botanically Trillium pendulum, a woodland perennial native to the forests of North America. The roots are small, earthy, and fibrous, harvested from mature plants and dried whole. What I carry here is the whole dried root, not powder, not chips, as it’s used in hoodoo conjure tradition.
In American Hoodoo, Low John is one of the traditional “John” roots, carried for family and love matters. Court case work in hoodoo is associated with Chewing John (galangal), a different root.
